A mid-winter retreat designed for the Morgan community, equal parts connection, learning, and celebration.
Each February, the New England Morgan Horse Association gathers its members and friends for a weekend that slows the pace, sharpens perspective, and brings people back together before the season ahead. The Winter Getaway is not a horse show — it’s a pause. A chance to reconnect with the people, programs, and horses that define the Morgan world in New England.
Hosted at the Beechwood Hotel in Worcester, the setting is comfortable, central, and intentionally relaxed a place to settle in, catch up, and focus on what matters.

The Winter Getaway is NEMHA’s annual mid-winter weekend gathering for the Morgan community.
It’s a two-day event that brings members, families, and friends together outside the show ring to reconnect, learn, and celebrate the year ahead. The weekend typically includes:
A casual welcome and social time
A farm visit and educational clinic
A youth workshop focused on development and leadership
NEMHA’s annual meeting, banquet, and awards
In short, the Winter Getaway is a pause in the off-season a chance to stay connected, share knowledge, and spend time with the people behind the horses before the show season begins.

Friday, February 6
6:30 PM – Welcome & Social Hour - Meet at the hotel bar after check-in for drinks and reconnecting with fellow participants.
Saturday, February 7
10:00 AM – 2:00 PM – Farm Visit & Clinic - Location: Mike Carpenter Stables, 52 Waters Road, Sutton, MA
Includes a farm tour, demonstrations, Q & A, and an educational session with Mike and Steven.
Lunch provided (generously sponsored).3:00 PM – 4:00 PM – Youth of the Year Workshop - Back at the Beechwood Hotel, featuring Caprice Tondalo, 2025 AMHA Youth of the Year.
6:00 PM – 7:00 PM – Cocktail Hour & Silent Auction, A relaxed social hour and fundraising opportunity.
7:00 PM – Annual Meeting, Banquet & Awards - Formal dinner, NEMHA business meeting, and presentation of the 2025 year-end awards.

A CLINIC DAY WITH MIKE CARPENTER
A COZY LOCATION
As part of the 2026 NEMHA Winter Getaway, attendees will visit Mike Carpenter Stables on Saturday, February 7 (10:00 AM–2:00 PM) for a hands-on farm visit and clinic featuring demonstrations, discussion, and a Q&A with Mike and Steven. Lunch is included, sponsored by the Heidi Kunkel Foundation.
