An Urban Equestrian Adventure in New York City

Experience the novelty of riding a horse in Brooklyn. MRC offers regular walking hacks in Prospect Park for Level 1+ riders. The rides that are marked as Level 2+ are only for riders who meet the Level 2a requirements and these rides will be walk and trot unless there are circumstances in the park that require the ride to be only walk.

The hack begins on the streets of Windsor Terrace, where we will loop around Machate (Parkside) Circle before riding between the magnificent Horse Tamer statues and entering a park steeped in equine history.

Discover the park's bridle trails, horse statues, stone bridges and beautiful foliage on this city hack. Expect long walks through various types of park terrain.

You will be accompanied by a host along with 2-3 other MRC riders for this urban horse riding experience.

For experienced riders wanting to trot, we can arrange private rides if you have a minimum of 2 riders to join you.

  • Riders arrive 30 minutes early to bridle horses and get mounted
    Riders depart for 1 hour hack
    Riders return, dismount and help put horses away

  • Yes, Level 1 +

    (There is a 200 lb weight limit for this ride.)

  • Horseback riding has a long history in Prospect Park. The 3.5 mile bridle path features scenic and varying terrain. Prospect Park opened in 1867, though it was not substantially complete until 1873. The park subsequently underwent numerous modifications and expansions to its facilities. Several additions to the park were completed in the 1890s, in the City Beautiful architectural movement.

  • Mixed breeds, some include: Draft, Mustang and Quarter Horses.
