Enjoy a selection of creative appetizers and canapés upon arrival, followed by a delicious three-course seated meal. A cash bar will be available. Seating will be assigned this year, please complete your barn affiliation when selecting you meal.

Join us for an unforgettable evening at the Connecticut Morgan Horse Association’s Opening Night Gala: A Night of Magic, celebrating our 70th anniversary! This year's event promises to be the most spectacular yet, returning to the iconic Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts.
Step into a world of intrigue and glamour inspired by the 1950's spy era. Immerse yourself in the magic, mystery, and espionage taking place within the theater, leading up to a fabulous dinner and lively dancing right on the Bushnell’s historic stage!
But beware—things may not be as they seem. With magic and mischief in the air, you'll need to stay sharp and explore every corner to uncover the secrets of the night. Participate in our thrilling spy scavenger hunt, unravel mysteries, and enjoy a night full of surprises!
ABOUT OPENING NIGHT

The Opening Night Gala celebration marks the official start of the equestrian season. Alongside festive hospitality and refined ambiance, the evening features the presentation of high-point and special awards, recognizing the achievements and contributions of our members.

Yes. This year’s gala will begin with a pre-awards cocktail reception featuring creative canapés and exceptional appetizers, followed by a three-course seated dinner. Vegetarian and children’s menu options will be available to ensure every guest is thoughtfully accommodated.

While we won’t spoil all the surprises or give the mystery away quite that easily, we can share that there will be entertainment throughout the evening. Guests can expect dancing on the stage and immersive experiences designed to delight and surprise at every turn. Activities to keep our younger guests engaged, making the evening enjoyable for all ages. To cap it off, our high-point winners will be proudly featured on the exterior marquees of the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts, visible throughout the main courtyard for all to admire.

Yes! Children are welcome. We strive to make Opening Night enjoyable for guests of all ages and ensure there are engaging touches throughout the evening to keep our younger guests entertained while parents relax and enjoy the celebration.

We are delighted to be returning to the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford, Connecticut. While we won’t give away all the surprises, this year’s event will unfold throughout the historic venue—inviting guests to experience the building in unexpected and memorable ways. Yes. The Bushnell offers free parking in the State of Connecticut parking lot along Capitol Avenue and at Buckingham Garage on the corner of Buckingham Street and Washington Street. Accessible parking is available in these lots. Free spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
If the free parking lot is full, parking is available at one of the paid lots. Please note the paid lots are not operated by The Bushnell. Parking costs $20+tax and can only be paid using a credit card at a ProPark kiosk. You'll need your license plate number when paying at the kiosk. Be aware of parking scams - Propark parking attendants do not ask for or accept cash.
